TermDefinition
Line Spacing the vertical spacing between lines of text, there are 66 lines per page.
Number Keys keys on the keyboard which contain the numerals 0-9
Number Lock toggle key on the keyboard which locks and unlocks the number keypad on the right side of the keyboard
Paper Size the size of a standard sheet of paper is 8 1/2 x 11 inches
Posture the position of the body or parts of the body
Proofreading the process of comparing a copy on screen or paper to the original copy and marking errors for correction
Proofreading Marks marks that are used to correct a copy
Quadruple Spacing the type of spacing where you would manually press the enter key four times and three blank lines would be between each keyed line
QWERTY Keyboarding the most common keyboard arrangement, named for the first letters across the top row
Reference Initals initials of the person that typed the letter or memo if different from the writer; initials should be double-spaced after the body and typed in lowercase letters
Return / Enter Key key on the keyboard that is used to enter information into a computer or to return the cursor to the beginning of a new line
Return Address the sender's address, is typed in a personal letter and is part of the letterhead in a business letter
Return Key key on the keyboard that is used to enter information into a computer or to return the cursor to the beginning of a new line
Shift Key key on the keyboard that is used to capitalize letters when pressed with that letter ke
Single Spacing the type of spacing where you would manually press the enter key one time and no blank lines are between each keyed line
Space Bar key on the keyboard that spaces the cursor forward one space at a time and produces a blank space when pressed
Strike / Hit to tap or press the keys of a keyboard with a finger or thumb
Tab Key key on a keyboard that is used to move the cursor directly to a tab stop
Technique the form and keying style that a typist uses while operating the keyboard
Text the actual structure of words in a piece of writing or printing
Triple Spacing the type of spacing where you would manually press the enter key three times and two blank lines would be between each keyed line
Unbound Report short reports that are prepared without binders or covers
Word Wrap in word processing, the automatic movement of a word to the next line when it is begun near the end of a line of text on which it is too long to fit; it eliminates the need to hit enter/return at the end of each line, except when starting a new paragraph
