Human body vocab : unit 1

QuestionAnswerSentence
Respiratory system the system that brings oxygen to the body. It is made up of the lungs, diaphragm, windpipe, and nasal passages.
Digestive system A group of organs that take in and digest food,and eliminate solid wastes. Good diet is important to keep a digestive system healthy.
Mechanical digestion the breakdown of food through chewing, mixing, or churning.
Chemical digestion It's the chemical breakdown of food into simpler compounds.
Intergumentary system The body system consisting of the skin,hair,and nails that protects the underlying tissues.
Immune system the bodily system of organs, tissues, cells, and cell products, which protects the body by detecting the presence of, and disabling, disease-causing agents in the body.
Sensory system a part of the nervous system responsible for processing sensory information. A sensory system consists of sensory receptors, neural pathways, and parts of the brain involved in sensory perception.
Endocrine system A group of glands that produce hormones and release them into the blood.
Muscular system A group of organs whose primary function is movement.
Skeletal system A group of organs that provide support.
Nervous system A group of organs and nerves that gather, interpret,and respond to information.
Resproductive system A group of organs that function in all reproductive processes.
Circulatory system The body system that circulates blood throughout the body and delivers essential substances to cells and removes wastes.
