TermDefinition
Abhor Regard with disgust and hatred Ex. I abhor vegetables.
Bigot A person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions. Ex. Donald Trump is such a bigot, he always finds reasons to despise a certain group of people.
Counterfeit Make an exact imitation of something valuable or important with the intention to deceive or defraud Ex. She bought a counterfeit bag; no wonder it was half the price
Enfranchise To give someone the legal right to vote Ex. Throughout all of history, masters refused to enfranchise their slaves. They could not vote until slavery was abolished and they were given rights.
Hamper verb(used with objects)- to hold back; hinder; impede noun - a large basket with a lid used for laundry Ex. 1. The annoying children hampered the progress of the father's report. 2. Mom “Anna, please put your clothes in the laundry hamper.”
Kindle “To light or set on fire” or “To become excited” Ex. 1. The man used twigs and branches to kindle the flame; his only source of warmth. 2. As a teacher he was not only able to teach his students, but to kindle their enthusiasm.
Placid Not easily upset or excited; calm and peaceful Ex. 1.The group of friends watched the placid surface of the waves as they sat around a campfire on the beach last night.
Noxious physically harmful to the well being of living things.harmful influence on the mind; morally harmful Ex. Noxious fumes can be harmful to your health Noxious ideas can persuade one’s mind.
Absolution the act of being absolved; a freeing from blame or guilt; release from consequences, obligations, or penalties. Ex.1. The priest administered absolution 2. Special assurance of forgiveness is also given in Confession and absolution.
