Sensorimotor Develop
The development of sensorimotor integration
Question | Answer |
---|---|
0-6 Months | Vestibular, Proprioceptive and Visual systems begin to integrate. Tactile and Proprioceptive systems refine to form foundation of somatosensory. Movement patterns progress to voluntary and goal directed. |
6-12 Months | Overall increase in systems: Vestibular, Visual and Somatosensory, Tactile and Proprioceptive with Auditory. To allow for FM development, motor planning skills (midline and crossing midline), primitive self-feeding and sounds/communication. |
13-24 Months | Increase precision in FM skills (tactile/proprioceptive). Increase complexity of motor planning, communication, ideation, and conceptualism. |
2-3 Years | Overall refinement of systems for improved balance, postural control, and discrimination/localization. |
3-7 Years | Driven to challenge sensorimotor competencies - roughhouse play, social development and self-esteem. |
