Majority Rule the principle that the greater number should exercise greater power
Caucus a meeting of party leaders to select candidates
Writ of Habeus-Corpus a court order to a person or agency holding someone in custody to deliver the imprisoned individual to the court issuing the order
Social Contract Theory organized society is brought into being and invested with the right to secure mutual protection and welfare or to regulate the relations among its members
Federalist Papers series of eighty-five essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay in the late 1780s to persuade the voters of New York to adopt the Constitution.
Articles of Confederation the original constitution of the US, ratified in 1781, which was replaced by the US Constitution in 1789.
Civic Duty the responsibilities of a citizen
Checks and Balances counterbalancing influences by which an organization or system is regulated
Civic Responsibility actions and attitudes associated with democratic governance and social participation
