macaroon a drop cookie made of egg whites, sugar, usually almond paste or coconut, and sometimes a little flour.
ambrosia a fruit dessert made of oranges and shredded coconut and sometimes pineapple
crepe suzette a thin dessert pancake, usually rolled or folded in quarters, heated in a sauce of orange-flavored liqueur, and served flambé.
panna cotta a type of crème caramel, a cold light molded egg custard flavored with caramel
strudel a pastry, usually consisting of a fruit, cheese, or other mixture, rolled in a paper-thin sheet of dough and baked.
praline a cookie-size confection made especially of butter, brown sugar, and pecans: developed in New Orleans in the early 19th century.
mousse a sweetened dessert with whipped cream as a base, often stabilized with gelatin and chilled in a mold:
spumoni an Italian style of ice cream of a very fine and smooth texture, usually containing layers of various colors and flavors and chopped fruit or nuts.
