Words that are of or are Lacking something
Term | Definition |

Banal | So lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring. |
Cliche | A phrase or opinion that's overused and betrays a lack of original thought. |
Derivative | Imitative of the work of another person and usually disapproved of for that reason. |
Hackneyed | Lacking significance through having been overused, unoriginal, and trite. |
Insipid | Lacking flavor; lacking vigor or interests. |
Lackluster | Lacking in vitality, force, conviction, uninspired, or, uninspiring. |
Mundane | Lacking interest or excitement; dull. |
Platitude | a remark or statement, especially one with a moral content, that has been used too often to be interesting or thoughtful. |
Prosaic | having the style or diction of prose; lacking poetic beauty. |
Trite | (of a remark, opinion, or idea) overused and consequently of little import; lacking originality or freshness. |
Vapid | offering nothing that is stimulating or challenging. |
