Color Terms

What is a monochromatic color scheme? A scheme that uses tints and shades of the same hue.
What is an analogous color scheme? A scheme that uses 3 or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
What is an accented neutral color scheme? A color scheme that uses all neutral hues except for one non-neutral hue.
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel? Complementary
How many colors in a split complementary color scheme? 3 colors
Name the Primary colors. Red, yellow, and blue.
Name the secondary colors. Green, violet, and orange.
What is the value of a color? The lightness or darkness of a color.
What is the intensity of a color mean? The brightness or dullness of a color.
What is the hue? A color
How do you make a tint? By adding white to a hue
How do you make a shade? By adding black to a hue
What are the warm colors? Red violet, red, red orange, orange, yellow orange, yellow
What are the cool colors Blue violet, blue, blue green, green, yellow green
What are the neutral colors? Black, white, gray, tan
What is unique about the primary colors? You can never mix hues and get these colors. They also can create every hue.
Name 3 tertiary colors. Blue violet, red violet, blue green
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? The primary color must be listed first.
What is another name for a tertiary color? Intermediate
What is a triadic color scheme? A scheme that uses 3 colors that are equidistant from each other on the color wheel.
