Color Terms

What is a monochromatic color scheme? It is achieved by using tints and shades of only one color.
What is an analogous color scheme? It is done by using three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
What is an accented neutral color scheme? One color in all neutrals.
What color scheme is 2 colors opposite on the color wheel? The color scheme that is two colors opposite on the color wheel is the complementary color harmony.
How many colors in a split complemetary color scheme? There are two colors that are located next to that colors complement.
Name the Primary colors. The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue.
Name the secondary colors. The secondary colors are orange, purple, and green.
What is the value of a color? The value of a color is how light it is or how dark it is.
What is the intensity of a color mean? The intensity of a color is how vibrant a color is.
What is the hue? A hue refers to the color it self. Each different hue is a different reflected wavelength of light.
How do you make a tint? A tint is a saturated color that must be mixed with pure white.
How do you make a shade? A shade is a saturated color that is mixed with pure black.
What are the warm colors? Warm colors are red, orange, and yellow.
What are the cool colors? The cool colors are blue, green, purple
What are the neutral colors? The neutral colors are black, gray, white, brown, and tan.
What is unique about the primary colors? They cannot be achieve by mixing any color.
Name 3 tertiary colors. Three tertiary colors are red-violet, yellow-green, blue-green.
What is the proper way to name a tertiary color? The proper way to name a tertiary color is primary first then secondary.
What is another name for a tertiary color? Another name for a tertiary color is intermediate.
What is a triadic color scheme? A triadic color scheme is three colors that are located within equal distance of each other.
