Gen.Writing Key Term

Purpose exposition , persuasion ; narration=the agenda of the writing
Form/Format * essay * business * memo
Topic Sentence the main idea of the sentence is represented here - its controlling sentence of the paragraph
Supporting Sentence give specific details that supports the main idea by explaining or proving the idea with sensory details , facts , and examples
Concluding Sentence the last sentence of the paragraph that connects the supporting ideas to the topic sentence and brings the paragraph to a close
Style the arrangement of sentences , phrases , words , and punctuation for a particular purpose in writing
Voice passive or active
Formal intended to be evaluated by someone or read by someone ( audience ) expecting academic or business like argument and presentation
Informal not intended to be evaluated ; sometimes not even to be read by others
