Cookie | Cookies are a message given to a Web browser by a Web server. The browser stores the message in a text file. |
Domain Name | Domain names are used to identify one or more IP addresses. For example, the domain name microsoft.com represents about a dozen IP addresses. |
ISP | Short for Internet Service Provider, it refers to a company that provides Internet services, including personal and business access to the Internet. |
4. Host | A computer system that is accessed by a user working at a remote location. Typically, the term is used when there are two computer systems connected by modems and telephone lines. |
5. Kilobyte | In decimal systems, kilo stands for 1,000, but in binary systems, a kilo is 1,024 (2 to the 10th power). Technically, therefore, a kilobyte is 1,024 bytes. |
6. Megabyte | When used to describe data storage, 1,048,576 (2 to the 20th power) bytes. Megabyte is frequently abbreviated as M or MB |
7. Network | A network is a group of two or more computer systems linked together. Computers on a network are sometimes called nodes. Computers and devices that allocate resources for a network are called servers. |
8. Node | In networks, a processing location. A node can be a computer or some other device, such as a printer. Every node has a unique network address. |
9. Cortana | Microsoft's Cortana is a voice-controlled virtual assistant for Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1. Cortana will use the Bing search engine and data stored on the phone by to make personalized recommendations. |
10. Protocol | Protocol is an agreed-upon format for transmitting data between two devices. It determines type of error checking and data compression used. |
