What are the elements of design? Line, shape/form, texture, color, and Space
What are the principles of design? Balance, Rhythm, Proportion/Space, Emphasis, Unity
What is the principle repetition? design that is repeated and copied
How does texture affect color? smooth- reflect light and look brighter Rough- absorbs more light and look darker.
What do curved lines suggest? coziness, comfort, naturalness, delicateness
Whats the difference between horizontal,vertical, and radical balance? horizontal left and right, Vertical Up and down, Radical are out of design.
What do diagonal lines suggest? movement, activity, excitement
What is space? The space in the room so you can point out things in the room. make sure you can see the ceiling.
What are the four types of rhythm? Gradation, Radiation, Repetition, Continuous Line
What is asymmetrical balance? Explain? Parts of the design is not identical but are equal. two lamps on either side of the table
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? Horizontal is left and right. Vertical is up and down
What is the golden mean? Ratio
What is the difference between shape and form? Its like shape of an object. form is like a group of objects
What are the 5 types of balance? Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, Vertical balance, Horizontal balance, Radial balance.
What does unity or harmony mean? The color, and all of the elements or principles in a design.
What are the two things texture involves? Shape and Color
What are the 4 types of line? Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, Curved
What is proportion? Its the size of an object
Which of the 5 types of balance suggests excitement or interest? Symmetrical
What is symmetrical balance? Example? Both parts are equal. so like a table with 8 candles and it stand the same.
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? One object or item that stands out. Focal point
What happens when you use a continuous line? It doesn't stop it just keeps going
What is another name for symmetrical balance? Formal Balance
What is another name for asymmetrical balance? Informal Balance
What is the difference between gradation and radiation? Gradation is one element of design of change. Radiation is when lines move out from the center.
