What is the "goal" of soccer? if the ball passes through the posts into the net - one point is awarded.
What is the PENALTY AREA ? This is the large box on a soccer field in front of each goal; also called the 18-yard box;
Where can a goalie use his hands? the penalty area
How does a soccer game start? KICK-OFF
What are the rules for a throw-in? taken approximately from where the ball went out; two hands on the sides of the ball, directly overhead and slightly behind the head, and both feet on the ground
What is awarded when a major infraction occurs (handball, tripping, etc.) the kick may score without touching anyone else on the field? DIRECT FREE KICKS
What is awarded when a minor infraction occurs (offsides); the kick cannot score unless someone else on the field touches it before it goes in the net? INDIRCT KICKS
What is awarded when the ball goes over the end line and an offensive player touched it last? GOAL KICK
What is awarded when the ball goes over the end line and a defensive player touched it last? CORNER KICK

What does an offensive player do? Attacks opponents goal by striking the ball with any part of foot, laces, heel, or side of the foot.
What is the restraining circle? large circle in center of field used to keep defense 10 yards away from ball during kick-off
