What are the stages of human milk? Colostrum; Transitional milk; Mature milk
What is colostrum Milk produced by the mother the first three days of birth.
What is transitional milk? A form of milk formed after colostrum, three days after birth up to two weeks. It is more watered down with an increase concentration of fat and decreased protein content.
What is mature milk? A form of breast milk that forms two weeks after birth
How is the composition of formula different from breast milk? They do not provide immune protection.
What s a standard term formula? cow-milk based formula
If an infant has digestion problems what kind of formula will the infant need? Hydrolysate formula
What indicates an infant is growing properly? In 6 months infant birth weight has doubled and in 1 year infant's weight has tripled.
What is food jag? When an infant won't eat anything but one item.
When can infants eat the same food as adults? After one year
Adding 2 ounces of water to powdered milk is the same as adding? 1/4 cup of water
After mixing powdered milk, how long can you leave it at room temperature? less than 1 hour
To warm a bottle evenly you should put it in the microwave or place bottle in hot water? place bottle in hot water
After the first month a bottle fed baby normally takes how many ounces of milk? 4 ounces every 4 hours
What is DHA and ARA? fatty acids that promote brain and eye development
