Classroom Management
Term | Definition |

Classroom Management | Refers to the steps teachers take to organize their classroom for optimal learning. |
Authoritarian Style | Have regulations for everything and consequences for every infraction. |
Permissive Style | Have some rules and expectations, but they rarely follow through with consequences when students fail to meet them. |
Authoritative Style | Have high expectations for students' behavior and clearly explain why some behaviors are acceptable and others are not. |
School Policies | Set overall guidelines and generally address major issues such as attendance and dress codes. |
Class Rules | Guidelines for student behavior specific to a class or teacher. |
Classroom Procedures | Translate the class rules into concrete actions expected of students. |
Nonverbal Cues | Eye contact, body language, gestures, and physical closeness to stop minor misbehavior. |
