Fable | a brief tale told to illustrate a moral or teach a lesson. |
Moral | a lesson that a story teaches. |
Folk Tale | a story that has been passed from generation to generation by word of mouth. |
Myth | a traditional story, usually concerning some superhuman being or unlikely event that was once widely believed to be true. |
Tall Tale | a humorously exaggerated story about impossible events, often involving the supernatural abilities of the main character. |
Hyperbole | a figure of speech in which the truth is exaggerated for emphasis or humorous effect. |
Theme | a message about life or human nature. |
Symbol | A person, place, object, or activity that stands for something beyond itself. |
Visualization | to picture in one's mind. |
Universal Theme | a message about life or human nature that is so fundamental to human existence that it is true to all people, time, and culture. |
