Bud Not Buddy Comprehension Chapters 12-14

What is a sit-down strike? Sit-down Strike is when they are being unfairly treated and sit down on the job.
What is a union? Like a family. They are a group of workers get together and try to make things better for themselves and their children. They help workers be treated more fairly and have better wages.
What was said on the telegram that Mr. Lewis sent? Sent a telegram to HEC saying that Bud is safe and they are in flint, he will be returning home on Wed.
What happened when Mr. Lewis and Bud were pulled over by the "copper"? Mr. Lewis wants Bud to put the box under the seat before the police man comes to the car so they don't get arrested for whatever is in it. The copper looked in trunk and opened Bud's suitcase. He looked in front seat and back seat.
What was in the box that Bud put under his seat in the car? The box had flyers announcing a secret meeting for the union.
What did the flyer in the box say? It talked about a secret union meeting for railroad workers.
What was the name of the dance hall Mr. Lewis dropped Bud off at? The Log Cabin
What was Herman E. Calloways's reaction to Bud's claim that he was his father? He was angry, thought he was crazy and wanted to send him back to where he came from.
What was Bud's reaction to his first sight of Mr. Herman E. Calloway? Old, big belly, bald head, grumpy, angry, nasty, and mean man. He knew he was his father from stuff he was saying.
What was the name of the restaurant which was the first restaurant Bud had ever been to? Sweet Pea
Who immediately befriended Bud when he went into the dance hall for the first time? Mr. Jimmy Wesley
Who is Miss Thomas? What is her first name? How does she treat Bud? She was the singer of HEC band. Her first name was Grace. She treats Bud like he was her child and loves him. Friends and she cares.
Why was Bud afraid to sleep in the bedroom he was told to sleep in? Because a dead girl slept in it.
What did Jimmy mean when he said Bud better be careful with his instrument because that was his " bread and butter"? That his instrument is what made him money.
What are the names of the band members and what did each one do? What did Bud start to do at the table in the restaurant? Why? Bud started to laugh, then he started to cry because he felt he was finally at home where he was supposed to be. He liked the people he found and thought he found his father.
