Tectonic Plates

TermDefinition
Oceanic crust composed of pieces that cover the ocean floor, always moving
Continental crust forms our continents
Mid-Oceanic Ridge large mountain range underwater between continents
convergent boundaries tectonic plates that move into one another(can result in the formation of mountain ranges)
subduction where one plate rises over another as they collide, and the other sinks underneath(can also form a mountain range)
divergent boundaries plates are pushed away from one another
transform boundary plates slide against each other(can cause earthquakes)
Pangaea "Super-Continent," When all of the continents were part of the same landmass
