Elementary and Secondary Education Act (1965) the bill aimed to shorten the achievement gaps between students by providing each child with fair and equal opportunities to achieve an exceptional education.
Department of Education The department in the cabinet of the executive branch. Basically is just an oversight of what the states are doing. Does not do much for education.
School Vouchers a government-funded voucher redeemable for tuition fees at a school other than the public school that a student could attend free.
No Child Left Behind Created under George Bush Jr. Supported standards-based education reform, and required states to develop assessments in basic skills. To receive federal school funding, states had to give these assessments to all students at select grade levels.
