Question | Answer |
---|---|
binomial | A polynomial with two terms. |
cubic | A polynomial of degree 3. |
degree of a monomial | The sum of the exponents of the variables in the monomial. |
degree of a polynomial | The degree of the term of the polynomial with the greatest degree. |
difference of two squares | A polynomial of the form a^2- b^, which may be written as the product (a + b) (a - b). |
leading coefficient | The coefficient of the first term of a polynomial in standard form. |
monomial | A number or a product of numbers and variables with whole-number exponents, or a polynomial with one term. |
perfect-square trinomial | A trinomial whose factored from is the square of a binomial. a^2 -2ab + b^2 = (a-b)^2 or a^2 +2ab + b^2 = (a + b )^2 |
polynomial | A monomial or a sum or difference of monomials. |
quadratic | A polynomial with a degree of 2. |
scientific notation | A method of writing very large or very small numbers, by using powers of 10. |
standard form of a polynomial | A polynomial in one variable is written in order from greatest to least degree. |
trinomial | A polynomial with three terms. |
