Fitness Review

Cardiovascular Fitness the ability of the heart, lungs, and vascular system to deliver oxygen-rich blood to working muscles during sustained physical activy
Another name for Cardiovascular fitness. cardiorespiratory fitness
How is cardiovascular fitness tested? PACES test or mile run
Muscular Strength the amount of force a muscle or muscle group can exert against a heavy resistance
How is muscular strength tested? pull-up test
Muscular Endurance the ability of a muscle or muscle group to repeat a movement many times or to hold a particular position for an extended period of time
How is muscular endurance tested? curl-up test
Flexibility the degree to which an individual muscle will lengthen
How is flexibility tested? sit and reach test
Body Composition the amount of fat in the body compared to the amount of lean mass (muscle, bones, etc.)
How is body composition tested? BMI
What does F.I.T.T. stand for? Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type
What is frequency? how often you exercise
What is intensity? how hard you work during exercise
What is time? how long you exercise
What is type? the type of activity you're doing
combination of diet and exercise the most effective way to achieve permanent weight loss without losing muscle mass
