Term | Definition |

Legislative Branch | Branch that creates laws, made up of two houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate. |
Impeachment | When the Legislative Branch votes on an office holder to be fired or not. |
Appropriations | Taking someone's property without their consent, which is their permission. |
Speaker of the House | The Leader for the House of Representatives House in the Legislative Branch. |
Bicameral | Having two Legislative houses in the Legislative Branch |
Vice President | The rank lower than a President, helps the country in times of need when the President isn't there. |
Standing committee | A type of committee that meets on a daily basis. |
Majority Party | A type of party that holds much power in political matters. |
Redistricting | A way to have more areas to vote in. |
Re-apportionment | Taking property away from someone again. |
President Pro Tempore | The person in the Senate that has about the Second to Highest power in the Senate. |
Filibuster | A speech that tells of what the Legislative has done and what it should do next. |
Constituents | Leaders to representatives |
Census | An organization in the FBI that collects information about people. |
Conference Committee | People from the Congress appointed by the 2 Houses of Legislature to talk about fixing bills. |
Joint Session | When the Two Houses of Legislature come together in one place to speak about a specific matter they could be wondering about. |
Implied Powers | Powers not specifically written in the Constitution that are still given to the people. |
Minority Party | A party that does the same thing as the majority party, but has less power to do what the majority party does. |
Lobbyist | Persuasion to help change someone's idea about a political matter. |
Checks and Balances | A system that gives each branch of government the same amount of power, and the branches could stop other branches from having too much power. |
Interest groups | Groups of people that come together to support an idea of theirs. |
Cloture | A way of closing a debate between people. |
Bill | A draft of a amendment for the future that must be approved by the legislative first to be considered giving it to the other branches to revise. |
Expulsion | Banning something for a long period of time, or forever. |
