database | A collection of related bits of information |
Provider data | The provider database has information about the physicians as well as the practices, such as name, addresses, phone number, and tax, provider identification numbers. |
Patient data | Data from each patient information form is stored in the patient database, including the patient's chart number, name, address, phone number, e-mail address, birth date, Social Security number, gender, marital status, and employer. |
Insurance carriers | The insurance carrier database contains the name, address, and other data about each insurance carrier used by patients, such as the type of plan. Usually, this database also contains information on each other's carrier electronic claim submission requir |
Diagnosis codes | The diagnosis code database contains the ICD-10-CM codes that indicate the reason a service is provided. |
Procedure codes | Database that contains the data needed to create charges. CPT codes that are most often used by the practice. |
Transactions | Database that stores information about each patient's visit, diagnoses, and procedures, as well as received and outstanding payments. |
Medisoft Program Date | The date the program uses to record when a transaction occurred. |
MMDDCCYY Format | The way dates must be keyed in Medisoft. MM=Month, DD=Day, CC=Century, YY=Year |
Backup data | A copy of data files made at a specific point in time that can be used to restore data. |
Restoring data | The process of retrieving data from backup storage devices. |
Rebuilding indexes | Process that checks and verifies data and corrects any internal problems with the data. |
Packing data | Deletion of vacant slots from the database. |
Purging data | Process of deleting files of patients who are no longer seen by a provider. |
Recalculating balances | Refers to the process of updating balances to reflect the most recent changes to the data. |
Access rights | Security option that determines the areas of the program a user can access, and whether the user has rights to enter or edit data. |
Auto Log Off | Feature of Medisoft that automatically logs a user out of the program after a period of inactivity. |
File Menu | Used to open an existing practice or create a new practice. It is also used to back up data and restore data, set program and security options, change the program date, and perform file maintenance. |
Edit Menu | Contains basic commands needed to move, change, or delete information. These commands are CUT, COPY, PASTE, DELTE |
