presidential democracy | a government where people vote for the leader and lawmakers separately |
parliamentary democracy | a government where people vote for the lawmakers, who then choose the leader |
federal system | a type of government where power is spread over multiple levels, like national, state, and local |
unitary system | a type of government with just one level of government, usually national |
confederacy | a type of government where multiple countries work together to form laws that all must follow |
traditional economy | a when the economic decisions are based on how ancestors have done it in the past |
market economy | when the economic decisions are decided by private people and businesses |
command economy | when the economic decisions are made completely by the government |
mixed economy | when some economic decisions are made by the people and some by the government |
tariff | a tax put on foreign goods |
quota | a limit placed on how many foreign goods can be brought in |
embargo | completely cutting off trade with a foreign country |
natural resources | things found in or on the earth that can be used for other purposes |
human capital | the skills, training, and knowledge employees need |
capital goods | the products needed to make other products |
entrepreneurship | taking a risk and making an investment to start a new business or create a new product |
