TermDefinition
Software piracy The act of illegally using, copying or distributing software without ownership or legal rights.
Intellectual property Intellectual property is something who has created an object which they rightfully own, who is the original owner of this object. The object could from the internet Example: logo, Picture/Image, Code, Website, Book, etc.)
Plagiarism Plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterwards without acknowledging the original creator who has made the source (Information, Picture/Image, Code, Website, Book, etc.).
Shareware Shareware is software that can be used for free on a trial with the understanding that the user may need or want to pay for it later, with a expiration date.
Freeware Freeware is a software that is offered at no cost and is a common class of small applications available for downloading and use in most OS (operating systems). It may allow you to modify the code and share it.
Public Domain Software Public domain software is not copyrighted. It is released without any conditions upon its use and may be used without restriction.
Copyright Law A form of intellectual property law, protects all original works of authorship.
Reverse Engineering Reverse engineering is taking apart an object to see how it works in order to duplicate or improve the object. The method has taken from older industries, is now today is used on computer hardware and software.
Decompilation A type of reverse engineering that does the opposite of what a compiler does. The tool that accomplishes this is called a decompiler. A similar tool, called a disassembler, translates object code into assembler language.
Network use A collection of computers connected electronically to facilitate the transfer of data and software which gives the ability to collaborate and share resources.
