TermDefinition
Caption Consist of a few descriptive words, and are typically used for figures, tables, and equations
Crop A picture, you trim the horizontal or vertical edges to remove unwanted areas
Drawing canvas Serves as a guide. Allows you to change the shape, add text, apply styles, fill with theme or standard colors, create gradients, add textures and apply preset effects
Embedded object When an inserted object becomes part of the document and is no longer connected to the original image
Floating object Word places image precisely on the page and allows the text to wrap around it in one several available formats
Inline object The object moves along with the text that surrounds it
Linked object Creates a connection between the document and the external picture file, but doesn’t incorporate the image into the word file
Scale Increases or decreases the original picture’s height and width by a percentage
Screen Clippings Enables you to draw a box and capture an image of its contents
Screenshot Enables you to capture an image of the screen and its current content
Shapes Figures such as lines, rectangles, block arrows, equation shapes, flowcharts, stars, banners, and callouts
Smart Art graphics are visual representations of information that can help communicate your message or ideas more effectively.
Word Art A feature that creates decorative effects with text
