Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by a low weight, fear of gaining weight, a strong desire to be thin, and food restriction.
Binge eating is characterized by binge eating without subsequent purging episodes.
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by binge eating followed by purging. Binge eating refers to eating a large amount of food in a short amount of time.
Fad diets diet that a large population follows for a time period and then it dies out.
Food allergy abnormal immune response to food. The signs and symptoms may range from mild to severe.
Food sensitivities is a detrimental reaction, often delayed, to a food, beverage, food additive, or compound found in foods.
Gluten a protein composite found in wheat, barley, rye, and all of their species and hybrids (such as spelt, kamut, and triticale).
Medical nutrition therapy is a therapeutic approach to treating medical conditions and their associated symptoms via the use of a specifically tailored diet devised and monitored by a medical doctor physician, registered dietitian, or professional nutritionist.
Orthorexia nervosa is a proposed distinct eating disorder characterized by extreme or excessive preoccupation with eating food believed to be healthy.
Peanut and tree nut allergy is strict avoidance of peanut or tree nuts. It is one of the most common food allergies. peanuts can cause a severe, potentially fatal, allergic reaction.
Pescatarian a person who does not eat meat but does eat fish.
Science based diets science based approach to nutritional healthcare.
Shellfish include many species of shrimp, clams, mussels, oysters, winkles, and scallops.
Soy or soy products is a species of legume native to East Asia, widely grown for its edible bean which has numerous uses.
Tube feeding is a medical device used to provide nutrition to patients who cannot obtain nutrition by mouth, are unable to swallow safely, or need nutritional supplementation.
Vegan a person who does not eat or use animal products.
Vegetarian a person who does not eat meat, and sometimes other animal products, especially for moral, religious, or health reasons.
