Schedule I Drugs that have a high potential for abuse.Not currently accepted medical use in treatment in the U.S.
Examples of schedule 1 drugs opioids, ketobemidone, allylprodine, heroin, LSD, mescaline, peyote
Schedule II Has high potential for abuswe. Have a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the U.S.
Examples of schedule 2 drugs opium, morphine, codine, ethylmorphine, hydrocodine.
Schedule III Has potential for drug abuse less than schedule 1 or 2. Have currently accepted medical use in treatment in the U.S.
Examples of schedule 3 drugs Phendimetrazine, methyprylon, nalorphine, Combinations of amobarbital, secobarbital, or pentobarbital with other active ingrediants.
Schedule IV Drugs or substances have a low potential for abuse relative to the drugs or other substances in schedule 3
Examples of schedule 4 drugs Chloral hydrate, chloral betaine, ethchlorvynol, phenobarbital, diazapam,pemoline, oxazepam.
Schedule V The drug or substance has a low potential for abuse, currently accepted medical use.
Examples of schedule V drugs Compounds containing limited amts. of codine, dihydrocodeine, ethlmorphine, opium, or diphenoxylate in combination with other non-narcotic active ingredients. (lower than schedule III) Diphenoxylate and atropine (lomotil)

The United States Pharmacopoeia/National Formulary (USP) Formerly 2 standards, the Pharmacopoeia and the National Formulary have been combined into 1 volume, includes lists of approved drugs

automatic stop policy antibotics and narcotics are examples of drugs that have an automatic stop policy. a new order is needed for refills
