Backstage view | the view that opens when you click file tab it contains commands for managing backstage view files and setting program options |
I- beam | when you place the cursor near it, the insertion point changes to a large "I" |
Ribbon | contains multiple commands on separate tabs |
Command | instruction based on an action that you perform in Word by clicking a button or entering information into a command box |
Dialog box | a box that displays additional options or information you can use to execute a command |
Dialog box launcher | a small arrow in the lower right corner of the group |
Group | set of related tools on the ribbon |
Tab | a labeled section of the ribbon, it contains a group of related tools |
Block Style | the block style format has open or mixed punctuation and is common to many business documents |
menu | click start to display the start menu |
mixed punctuation | requires a colon after the salutation and a comma after the closing |
nonprinting characters | symbols for certain formatting commands such as paragraphs |
open punctuation | requires no punctuation after the salutation or the closing |
preview | right of the print options setting enables you to view your document as it will appear when it is printed |

white space | is the space between pages of the document |
word wrap | automatically wraps text to the next line as it reaches the right margin |
quick access toolbar | a customizable toolbar that contains a set of commands that are independent |
