Map vocab

QuestionAnswer
Relative Location Where one place is based on the location of another
Absolute Location The exact spot of a place, the latitude and longitude of a place
Physical Map A type of map that you would use to find information about landforms
Political Map A type of map that you would use to find information about cities and states
Compass Rose A map tool that shows north, east, south, west
Scale The distance on the Earth shown by a measurement on the map
Legend Decodes the colors, shapes, and symbols on a map
Cartographer A person who makes maps
Chronology The exact or sequential order in which past events occur
Longitude The North-South (vertical) lines on a map
Latitude The East-West (horizontal) lines on a map
Region An area or place defined by the common features
Map Scale A tool used to measure distance on a map
Map Key A section on the map that explains the meaning of the symbol usede
