preoperational stage | According to Piaget, it is the period between the ages of 2 and 7, during which children learn to classify groups and use symbols and internal images. |
regressive | Returning to a former or less developed state. |
fine-motor | The ability to coordinate the small muscles in the arms, fingers, and wrists to complete tasks such as grasping, holding, cutting, drawing, and writing. |
gross-motor | Improvement of the skills involving arms, legs, and whole body movements, such as running, jumping, throwing, and climbing. |
articulation | The ability to talk in clearly pronounced sounds. |
rote counting | Reciting numbers in their proper order. |
