LYSOSOME Cytoplasmic vesicle containing "digestive" enzymes
INTRACELLULAR pertaining to within cells
EXTRACELLULAR pertaining to outside of cells
NUCLEUS control center of cell ; contains all DNA info
NUCLEOLUS intracellular organelle composed of RNA and protein ; responsible for interorganelle communication ; literally means "a tiny nut"
ENDOPLASMIC pertaining to within matter
CHROMOSOME tightly coiled, connected strands of original and duplicated DNA ; visible only during Mitosis ; literally means "a colored body"
CENTRIOLE paired, cylindrical organelles responsible for chromatid migration during Mitosis
CYTOPLASM colorless fluid that suspends intracellular organelles
VACUOLE cytoplasmic inclusion that appears as a small hole microscopically
CHROMATIC pertaining to color
PHAGOCYTOSIS the process of cellular "eating"
PINOCYTOSIS the process of cellular "drinking"
EXOCYTOSIS the process of cellular expulsion of waste products
MITOSIS Cellular Reproduction
INTERCELLULAR pertaining to between cells
ORGANELLE a tiny organ
PHYSIOLOGY the study of function
RETICULAR pertaining to a net
RIBOSOME intracellular organelle that produces proteins
CENTROMERE temporary attachment between original and duplicate chromatids during Mitosis
CELLULAR MEMBRANE the outermost structure that forms an envelope / "skin" around all intracellular components
SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM a complex network of canals and flattened sacs throughout the cytoplasm of the cell (no ribosomes attached)
ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM a complex network of canals and flattened sacs throughout the cytoplasm of the cell (ribosomes attached)
NUCLEI plural of Nucleus
GOLGI APPARATUS Processes and packages protein molecules for export from the cell
SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM Active in lipid metabolism and drug detoxification activites
ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM Manufacture, store, and transport proteins to be used outside the cell
