Lesson 2.02 -Understand Digital Vector Graphics
Term | Definition |

Artboard | The area of the illustration |
Objects | Any shape,image, or text than can be moved |
Lines | An open ended path with 2 anchor points |
Anchor Point | Basic component of paths , which appears at the start and end of every path of where it change directions. |
Line Segment | Part of a line that has an anchor point on each end |
Path | Made up of one or more line segments |
Open Path | One or more paths for which the start points and end points are not the same |
Closed Path | A continuous path that has no beginning or end |
Shapes | Geometric based tools that allow you to create primitive shapes |
Transformations | Scaling, rotation, shearing and reflecting |
Stacking Order | The order of how objects are arranged on the artboard |
Selection Tool | Selects an object or a group of objects |
Direct Selection Tool | Selects anchor points or paths |
Stroke | The outline of a shape or path |
Fill | To put color, or pattern into a object |
Swatches | Named colors tints |
Gradients | Filling an object with a smooth transition |
Patterns | Repeated |
Drawing | Using shapes or other tools such as pen or pencil to simulate things |
Pen Tool | IN uses anchor points to allow you to create line |
Bezier | A curved segment of a path |
Image Trace | A tool in a vector program will take a raster image |
Pathfinder | A tool that contains four shape options |
Effect | Commands that can be applied to an object |
Point type | A line of text that begins at the point that you click |
Area Type | Uses the boundaries of an area created by dragging |
Type on Path | Allows you to attach text |
Text Warp | Controls how area text flows over or around a object |
