In the United Kingdom, what government officials are elected by the people? Members of the House of Commons
How is the head of state determined in the United Kingdom? Must be born into the family bloodline to become monarch/head of state (part of the Royal family).
Do the people vote for the United Kingdom's head of state? No
How is the head of government determined in Russia? Citizens elect the head of government - President
How is the head of government determined in Germany? Citizens elect the members of the Bundestag and the political party with the most members in the Bundestag select the head of government (chancellor).
How is the head of government determined in the United Kingdom? Citizens elect the members of the House of Commons and the political party with the most members in the House select the head of government (prime minister).
What is name of the law making body? Legislature Germany and United Kingdom = Parliament Russia = Federal Assembly
What is an autocracy? One person has unlimited power
What is a democracy? People have power through voting
Describe how the power of the the head of government is different in a parliamentary and presidential democracy? In a presidential democracy the HOG only has executive power. He/she is not part of the legislature. In a parliamentary democracy the HOG is in both the legislature and the executive branches. He/she has both legislative and executive power.
Describe how the head of government is determined in a parliamentary democracy. The head of government is selected in the legislature.
