Bill of Rights

TermDefinition
Involves disagreements between people or businesses, includes the right to a jury in a civil trial 7th Amendment
The right to keep and bear arms 2nd Amendment
The reserved rights to the states, gives states the powers that the Constitution does not specifically give to the national government 10th Amendment
The freedom of speech, press, assembly, petition, and religion 1st Amendment
The right of due process, double jeopardy, no self-incrimination, rights of the accused 5th Amendment
The preservation of natural, human rights, including those not otherwise listed in the Constitution (like right to privacy) 9th Amendment
No quartering of troops 3rd Amendment
Involves cases where crimes have been committed, includes the right to a fair and speedy trial with an impartial jury, with a lawyer present, and with witnesses 6th Amendment
No unreasonable seizures or searches, need a warrant or probably cause 4th Amendment
No excessive fines or bails, or cruel and unusual punishment 8th Amendment
