If the correct vocabulary is not used...... Tech support might not know what you are talking about.
Hardware The physical components of a computer. What you can "touch".
Software Where instructions are stored. It tells the computer what to do. It is also known as programs
Algorithm a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer.
Processor follows the program and carries out the application.
Input Any information or data sent to a computer for processing is considered input.
Output Data generated by a computer is referred to as output Example: Use of a printer
RAM Random Access Memory is short-term digital storage.
ROM Read Only Memory is long term digital storage.
CPU is sometimes referred to as the "microprocessor" inside of a computer or electronic device. It is also known as the "brain". It's job is to receive the input and provide the appropriate output.
USB (Universal Serial Bus) this hardware connects devices cover a broad range; anything from keyboards and mice, to music players and flash drives.
VGA A VGA cable is used to connect your computer to your computer monitor. It transfers the picture signal from the computer to the monitor so it can be displayed.
HDMI "High-Definition Multimedia Interface." --it is a trademark and brand name for a digital interface used to transmit audio and video data in a single cable.
Software Stack a series of layers of programs that implement user applications. Each software layer put into use operations at one level to build layers (upwards)
Operating System the software that supports a computer's basic functions, such as scheduling tasks, executing applications, and controlling peripherals.
