Term | Definition |

Sounds | Vibrations traveling through the air |
Sound Wave | wave that carries noise |
Decibles | Measure of intensity of sound |
Crest | highest point of a wave |
Trough | Lowest point of a wave |
Wavelength | Distance between separate crests or troughs in a wave |
Amplitude | Distance from resting point to crest |
Frequency | Amount of time it takes for a wave to complete one full oscillation |
Pitch | tone generated by sound wave high pitch = high frequency low pitch = low frequency |
Analog | Recorded by instrument. Not programmed or digital. |
Sample Rate | # of audio samples/second (measured in hertz) |
Bit Rate | # of bits/second transmitted along a digital network |
Waveform | curve showing shape of a wave at a given point |
Clip | To take a section of audio from a file |
