RHINOPLASTY | reconstructive surgery of the nose |
RHINITIS | inflammation of the nose |
RHINOPNEUMONITIS | inflammation of the nose and the lungs |
PNEUMOTHORAX | free air in the pleural cavity |
HEMOTHORAX | blood in the pleural cavity |
PYOTHORAX | pus in the pleural cavity |
ATELECTASIS | collapsed lung(s) |
TACHYPNEA | rapid breathing |
BRADYPNEA | slow breathing |
HYPERPNEA | excessive breathing |
DYSPNEA | difficulty breathing |
APNEA | absence of breathing |
HYPERCAPNIA | a condition of excessive CO2 |

CYANOSIS | blue coloration of mucous membranes |
HEMOPTYSIS | coughing up blood |
ANTITUSSIVE | an agent used to suppress coughing |
EPIGLOTTIS | the cartilaginous flap that covers the opening to the glottis |
INTRANASAL | within the nose |
ACHONDRAL | pertaining to no cartilage |
NASOPHARYNX | the nose and throat |
NASOGASTRIC | the nose and stomach |
BRONCHIECTASIS | dilation of bronchi |
BRONCHIARCTIA | a condition of bronchial constriction |
THORACENTESIS | procedure in which the chest is punctured for the removal of fluid or air |
HYDROTHORAX | fluid accumulates in the pleural cavity |
THORACOTOMY | a surgical incision of the chest wall |
