CYSTITIS inflammation of the bladder
NEPHRITIS inflammation of the kidney
PYELONEPHRITIS inflammation of the kidney and its pelvis
INTRAVENOUS PYELOGRAM an x-ray examination of the kidneys, ureters and urinary bladder that uses iodinated contrast material injected into veins
CYSTOGRAPHY recording of the bladder
PNEUMOCYSTOGRAM a radiographic procedure in which air is injected into the bladder
CYSTOCENTESIS urine is withdrawn from the bladder using a syringe and needle
URETHRITIS inflammation of the urethra
UROLITHIASIS urinary stones
HEMATURIA bloody urine
CYSTOTOMY a surgical procedure in which the bladder is incised
POLYURIA large volume of urine in a given period of time
OLIGURIA small volume of urine in relation to fluid intake
POLLAKIURIA frequent urination
DYSURIA difficulty urinating
ANURIA a condition without urination
NEPHROTOXIC kidney toxin
UREMIA a raised level in the blood of urea and other nitrogenous waste compounds that are normally eliminated by the kidneys.
AZOTEMIA excess urea and other nitrogenous compounds in the blood
PROTEINURIA protein in the urine
GLYCOSURIA glucose in the urine
UROPOIESIS production of urine
URETHROSTOMY a surgical procedure in which a permanent opening is made in the urethra to facilitate urination
GLOMERULAR glomerulus
PERITUBULAR around a tubule
NOCTURIA frequent urination at night
CYSTALGIA bladder pain
HYDRONEPHROSIS distention of the kidney with urine, usually from ureter / urethra obstruction
ISOSTHENURIA the excretion of urine whose concentration is neither greater nor less than that of plasma
