Levels of SCI injury

C1-C3 head/neck; w/c control; breathing; computer use | limited head/neck movement, w/c may be possible controlled with a chin strap or sip and puff controller; dependent on a ventilator to breathe; computer may be operated with iris recognition, mouth stick or voice recognition |
C4 head/neck;shoulder; w/c control; breathing; computer use | full head/neck movement; limited shoulder movement; w/c may be controlled with a chin strap or sip and puff; able to breathe w/o ventilator; computer may be operated with iris recognition, mouth stick or voice recognition |
C5 shoulder/elbow movement; w/c control; computer use | good shoulder movement and elbow flexion; w/c can be controlled with hand control; can self feed with universal cuff; can drive a car with adapted hand controls; computer can be operated with a typing stick or voice recognition |
C6 wrist movement; elbow movement; grip | Good wrist extension and elbow flexion TENODESIS! ; passive key grip may be present by flexing the wrist backwards (but still weak); |
