Digit | any of the symbols 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 7, 8, or 9 |
Value | worth of a number, symbol, or object |
Place Value | the value a digit has based on its position in a number |
Expanded Notation | the value of each place value digit is shown as a sum of each digit multiplied by its matching place value |
Word Form | a number written in words |
Equal to (=) | having the same overall value |
Greater than (>) | the relationship between numbers when one number's value is more than another number's value |
Less than (<) | the relationship between numbers when one number's value is less than another number's value |
Sum | the result to adding numbers or quantities together; the answer to an addition problem |
Difference | the amount left over when one number is subtracted from another; the answer to a subtraction problem |
Whole | all parts are present; a complete object or group |
Expanded Form | a number written as the sum of the value of its digits |
Compatible Numbers | numbers that are easy to compute mentally |
Estimate | a strategic choice of number |
Round | to approximate the value of a number using a particular place value |
Approximate | close in value or amount, about, not exact |
