Term | Definition |

Scale Copy | "Same shape different size" A figure where all lengths have been adjusted using the same scale factor, and angles DO NOT change. |
Scale Factor | The number used to MULTIPLY the lengths of a figure to make a scale copy. A fancy ratio of copy:original |
Scale Copy Equation | scale copy = original * scale factor (multiplied) |
Scale Factor Equation | scale factor = scale copy/original (divided) |
Corresponding Parts | Parts that are in the same position in relation to the rest of the figure. They can be points, segments, or angles. |
Scale factor is greater than 1 | The copy will be larger |
Scale factor equal to 1 | The copy will be the same size |
Scale factor less than 1 | The copy will be smaller |
Going backwards from copy to original, what do I do with the scale factor? | You use the recipricol aka you FLIP the fraction. |
