How can a citizen of a DEMOCRATIC nation influence the government? vote
In which European country do citizens vote for both the president AND one house in the legislature? Russia
Who chooses the head of government in Germany and the UK? parliament/legislature
How is the role of citizens in selecting the head of government in the United Kingdom and Germany similar? In both countries, citizens indirectly elect the head of government. Citizens elect members of the legislature who then select the head of government.
Which form of government has: rights, freedoms, voting, and free elections? democracy
Which BEST compares and contrasts the roles of citizens in the German and Russian governments? German citizens can vote for representatives in one house of their legislature. Russian citizens can vote for representatives in one house of their legislature and for their president.
What is one difference between parliamentary democracy and a presidential democracy? In a Parliamentary democracy, citizens vote for representatives who then choose the head of government; in a Presidential democracy, citizens vote for representatives and the executive leader
How is government leadership different in the United Kingdom and Russia? In the United Kingdom, the monarch is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government; in Russia, the president is the head of state and the head of government.
What is an example of an autocracy? dictatorship

How are the governmental systems of Russia and Germany different? In Russia the head of government is voted on by the citizens, but in Germany the head of government is chosen by the legislature.
Which country has many restrictions on the rights of citizens? Russia
What is democracy? a form of government in which power rests with the people, either directly or through elected representatives. (people vote and have many rights)
What is autocracy? form of government with rule by one person with absolute power (people do not vote and have few rights)
What is a monarch? Someone who inherits their title and/or power through the bloodline (like a king or queen)
What is legislature? a group of people within a government that has the power to make or change laws.
What is a president? an person elected to lead a country (can be in both a presidential and parliamentary democracy)
What is a prime minister? head of government in a parliamentary democracy
What is a presidential democracy? form of government in which the executive branch is elected separately from the legislative branch (people vote directly for both)
What is a parliamentary democracy? system of government in which citizens elect representatives to a legislative parliament to make the necessary laws and decisions for the country (parliament then chooses the prime minister, not the people)
