TermDefinition
The constitution the document that outlines the structure of our government and establishes the Rule of Law in our country. It was ratified (approved) in 1788. It is still in use today because it can be changed or “amended” to adjust to changes in our society.
Bill of Rights the first ten amendments (changes/additions) to the Constitution. It outlines citizen's rights and protections
3 Branches of Gov the three groups that work together to govern our country
Checks and Balances the idea that each group in our government has different powers so that no one group has all the power
