What is a Mestizo? a person mixed native American and European decent in Spanish colonies
What was the Mexican war of Independence? (1810-1821) an armed conflict that led to Mexicos independence from Spain, began by Hidalgo
What is a Mulatto? a person of mixed African and European decent in Spanish colonies
What is Nationalism? strong feelings of support from ones nation
What is Peninsular? a person in Spain who lived in a Spanish colony
Who was Simon Bolivar? (1783-1830) leader of latin America, independence movement in South America
What is Sovereignty? the power of a state to rule itself, since most of Latin America lack Sovereignty for approximately 300 years
What is St. Domingue? the name for Haiti when it was a french colony
What was the Napoleonic Wars? (1803-1815)a series of major wars in European during which Napoleon Bonaparte I attempted to conquer the continent, after his final defeat Napoleon was exiled to an island in the Atlantic ocean an European powers redrew the borders in the continent
