pentagon | a polygon with 5 sides and angles |
hexagon | a polygon with 6 sides and angles |
heptagon | a polygon with 7 sides and angles |
octagon | a polygon with 8 sides and angles |
nonagon | a polygon with 9 sides and angles |
decagon | a polygon with 10 sides and angles |
isosceles triangle | a triangle with at least 2 sides of equal length |
scalene triangle | a triangle with no sides of equal length |
equilateral triangle | a triangle with 3 sides of equal length |
right triangle | a triangle with one 90 degree angle and two acute angles |
acute triangle | a triangle with all angles that measure less than 90 degrees |
obtuse triangle | a triangle with one angle that measures greater than 90 degrees |
parallelogram | a quadrilateral with opposite sides that are parallel and congruent |
rhombus | a parallelogram with 4 congruent sides |
rectangle | a parallelogram with 4 right angles |
square | a parallelogram with 4 congruent sides and 4 right angles |
(inclusive) trapezoid | a quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides |
(exclusive) trapezoid | a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides |

hierarchy | a ranking of categories based on attributes |
congruent | of equal measure |
quotient | the answer in a division problem |
sum | the answer in an addition problem |
product | the answer in a multiplication problem |
divisor | the number that is being divided by in a division problem |
factors | the numbers being multiplied in a multiplication problem |
dividend | the number that is being divided in a division problem |
addends | the numbers being added in an addition problem |
difference | the answer in a subtraction problem |
remainder | what is left over in a division problem, such as 12/5 |
multiples | any given number times every other number |
