Thomas Paine Common Sense | This was a pamphlet written about king George and his tyranny. This pamphlet sold tons of copies and persuaded people to want to be free |
The Declaration of independence | Written by Thomas Jefferson and signed by 56 others. the declaration of independence stated the rights of man to his liberty and freedom. |
Shays rebellion | Shays Rebellion was when farmers started to protest and riot the raised taxes and weak government |
Louisiana Purchase | Napoleon from France no longer wanted his US territory so he offered to sell it to Thomas Jefferson. This deal ended up doubling the size of the US |
Missouri Compromise of 1820 | North and South could not agree on whether Missouri should be a slave state. They compromised of making Missouri a slave state and Main and free state. |
Compromise of 1850 | The comprise was on whether or not Texas was allowed to say parts of new Mexico were slave states. It ended with California becoming a free state and New Mexico, and Utah allowed popular sovereignty. |
Manifest Destiny | People started to believe that god wanted them to expand their settlement towards the west. They believed that they should conquer all the way to the pacific ocean. |
