Oligarchy | A type of government in which a small group of citizens control decision making. |
Aristocracy | A government controlled by a few wealthy people. |
citizen | A person with certain rights and responsibilities in his or her community. |
polis | A city-state in ancient Greece. |
peninsula | An area of land almost entirely surrounded by water. |
island | An area of land completely surrounded by water. |
harbor | A sheltered place along a coast used to protect boats and ships. |
colony | A territory that is under the control of another country. |
