ESRB Rating | provide information about what’s in a game or app so parents and consumers can make informed choices about which games are right for their family. |
First person shooter | a type of video game in which the player assumes the field of vision of the protagonist, so that the game camera includes the character's weapon, but the rest of the character model is not seen. |
FPS (Frames per second) | the number of consecutive full-screen images that are displayed each second. |

Genre | a classification assigned to a video game based on its gameplay interaction rather than visual or narrative differences |
Gone Gold | in video games is industry-speak for a completed game. To be specific, a video game is gold when it’s ready for publication without any unfinished areas. |
Grind | is performing repetitive tasks, usually for a gameplay advantage or loot but in some cases for purely aesthetic or cosmetic benefits. |
Janky | is common in specific gaming communities and refers to using tactics that are bad or subpar. |
Level | map, area, stage, world, track, board, zone, or phase in a video game is the total space available to the player during the course of completing a discrete objective. |
Loot | describes valuable items picked up by the player character over the course of the game, such as in-game currency, spells, equipment and weapons. |
MMO | is basically a video game that has the ability to support hundreds, or even thousands, of different players online at any one time |
Pixels | is the smallest unit of a digital image or graphic that can be displayed and represented on a digital display device. |
Platform | refers to the specific combination of electronic or computer hardware which, in conjunction with software, allows a videogame to operate. |
Quest | is a task in video games that a player-controlled character, party, or group of characters may complete in order to gain a reward |
Realm | the region, sphere, or domain within which anything occurs, prevails, or dominates: the realm of dreams. |
RPG | electronic game genre in which players advance through a story quest, and often many side quests, for which their character or party of characters gain experience that improves various attributes and abilities |
Sprites | a two-dimensional bitmap that is integrated into a larger scene, most often in a 2D video game |
Top-Down | Any game that offers an elevated viewpoint above the action can be considered to have a top-down or overhead perspective. |
