volume expander; increase intravascular fluid; TX: shock and burns. increases BP, urinary output, serum plasma protein in pts with hyponatremia. COMP: HA, fluid volume overload, HTN, tachycardia, crackles, dyspnea. monitor albumin, serum sodium Colliod
hormone TX: hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer, resolution of hypothyroidism & normalize thyroid hormone level SE: HA, insomnia, angina, arrhythmias, tachycardia, abd cramps, N/V/D, sweating, wt loss, accelerated bone maturity in children. Levothyroxine / Syntrhoid
increase or replace fluid volume :Hypertonic-3%NS; Hypotonic-D5W; Isotonic-NS, Lac Ringer; TX: fluid volume loss r/t trauma, burns, or surgery, SE: over hydration, pulmonary edema, SOB, Tachycardia. Monitor: WT in CHF pts, edema, s/s of FVO Crystalloids
Antidiabetic; TX: lowers BG in diabetic pts by stimulating pancreas to release insulin. SE: hypoglycemia, tingling hands and feet. HA, N/V/D drug induced hepatitis hyponatremia aplastic anemia photosensitivity. MONITOR: ALT AST FSBS LDH BUN & Creatinine Glymepiride / Amaryl
